Counting the cost
Research by Ceeda shows that private voluntary and independent childcare providers in England lose an estimated £206.6 million per annum on funded childcare places. This estimate is based on take up BEFORE the expansion of 2 year old places to 40% of the population.
This major study commissioned by the Pre-School Learning Alliance and conducted by Ceeda, tracked delivery costs across 186,712 hours of early years education and childcare for 5,635 funded and non-funded children to establish a robust picture of true costs.
This influential research hit the headlines, contributed to the recent House of Lords Affordable Childcare Committee report and subsequent government review of free entitlement funding in the early years.
