Mystery shopping shows the way

We have worked with Ceeda for many years and make use of both their survey and mystery shop services. The work that Ceeda does is different - it really informs decision making and helps you move things on. Feedback through our parent surveys and Ofsted inspections was telling us everything was great, but our occupancy levels could have been healthier and we wondered why.
We commissioned Ceeda to carry out a mystery shop to test out parents first impressions of our provision. What we found out led to some important changes. Our setting fronts a main street and the front door is not used due to proximity to the road. This fact was not immediately apparent to passers by however and feedback suggested this would have led parents to drive by without taking the trouble to come in and see what we do. We promptly set about changing signage, landscaping the outside of our premises to lead parents to our main door and improving some aspects of the layout indoors.
Without the insight from this research we could still be losing potential viewings today! In our latest Ofsted inspection we went from Good to Outstanding, and the inspector made direct reference to the way we use parent research to inform our planning.
